Gentle Giant Rowing Club is proud to be a location for US Rowing's National Learn to Row Day!
June 3, 2023 - 10am -1pm
On Learn to Row Day, we open up our boathouse in Somerville to people who have always wondered, "what is rowing and why is it becoming such a popular sport?" Events will include:
Land Rowing on our Rowing Machines or "ergs"
"Tanking" on our dock - we'll put one of our boats in the water against the dock and our members will help guide you through the process of taking strokes.
Taking some strokes out on the river - After you've "tanked", we'll send you out in our barge or one of our hulls with experienced rowers to have you take your first strokes on the river! You'll experience first hand what rowing is like.
You'll also discover a very underused resource in our area, the Mystic River!
National Learn to Row Day is the first Saturday in June! Come join us for this very special event.
