What are Pairs? Pairs are a configuration of rowing hull that has two rowers, each with one sweep oar. It is a challenge to row this boat - pairs are the most unstable rowing shell you can row. However, it’s also a great tool to become a better rower! The smaller the boat, the more it can communicate to you and how you are rowing.
Row in our Pairs!
Each Sunday from 8a-10a, you can row in one of our pairs! Any coach will tell you that rowing in smaller boats makes you better in the bigger boats. Rowing in a pair is a fine example of this. You’ll learn quickly how subtle body movements can impact how the boat is set, how the boat runs, and more!
The basic structure of the class…
Arrive by 8am, set up slings, and bring out our doubles.
Switch the riggers to the pair riggers
Head out for a row!
Dock, put the boats in slings and put the sculling riggers back on the boat
The practice is 90 minutes on the water and 30 minutes rigging the boats. Coaching will focus on proper rowing technique. Rowers that wish to try a pair with a friend can do that!
The cost is $35 and the classes will take place on the following Sundays…
8/3, 8/10, 8/17, 8/24, 8/31
