Our
Youth Rowing reaches out to the youth of many neighborhoods spanning from Medford, Malden,
and Everett, through Somerville and Cambridge, including Brookline and Boston, and more.
Our mission is to provide a solid character developing experience through the teamwork and
competition of rowing to each of our high school participants. Both novice and competitive
programs are now available.
From
our strong local community centers and through our varied and wide reaching commuting
participants we organize competitive crews. Public High Schools have a welcome opportunity
to partner with our rowing club in school-based teams. And individuals with fewer fellow
community members find new community in the ranks of the open club program.
In
a rapidly changing world, our rowing club proudly offers the opportunity of America's
original collegiate sport with today's mindset of embracing all interested parties of our
greater community. Rowing although rich in its history and tradition has been until most
recently rich in its blood. Gentle Giant Rowing Club stand at the forefront of the new
movement of dynamics and diversity celebrating expansion of rowing. With NCAA creation of
women's Division I rowing, now is the time more than ever for young women to profit not
only from rowing's inherent qualities but the scholarships created every year.
